Beyond the Labels: My Journey to Neurodivergence - 2

After years of wearing labels that didn’t fit, I finally came to understand that I’m not broken — I’m neurodivergent. That truth reframed my whole story. But knowing the truth is only part of the journey. Living with it, honoring it, and learning how to thrive with it is the work I do every day.

The first lesson I learned was that self-care isn’t optional. It’s survival. But I don’t mean bubble baths and inspirational memes. I mean tools that help regulate my nervous system, calm the noise, and keep me steady when the world gets too heavy.
Sound Therapy – Some nights, silence is louder than thunder. That’s when I reach for sound: binaural beats, focus music, or sleep meditations through my headphones. The vibrations from my crystal bowls work the same way, settling the chaos in my body and mind.
Visualization & Meditation – When my brain won’t stop spinning, I use guided visualizations. Sometimes I create them for others, sometimes I simply follow along. They give the mind somewhere safe to go, a path to walk when the inner crossroads feel overwhelming.
Movement & Exercise – A body in motion clears the fog. Walking, stretching, even just pacing the room resets me. It’s not about “fitness goals” — it’s about releasing what my body holds so my mind doesn’t have to.
Plant-Based Living – Food is energy, and my vegan lifestyle keeps me aligned with my values and supports my clarity. Eating whole, cruelty-free meals reduces the inflammation and brain fog that can make neurodivergence harder to manage.
These aren’t luxuries. They are anchors.
Another piece of the puzzle has been learning to feed my brain without letting it burn me out. I thrive on stimulation, but I’ve had to learn how to choose it wisely.
Multiple projects? Yes — but balanced with rest. Creative focus? Absolutely — but with boundaries so I don’t spiral into burnout. Safe stimulation means finding what lights me up without setting me on fire.
Right now, the world feels heavy. Trauma and conflict are everywhere. People are angry, scared, and exhausted. Neurodivergent or not, we all need practices that calm our minds and hearts.
This is the perfect time to lean on visualization, sound therapy, meditation, and mindful living. These are not escapes — they are tools of resilience. They help us show up with compassion, courage, and clarity when it feels like everything is falling apart.
This is why I share my work through By Her Fires. The oracle decks, classes, and sound healing sessions are born from the same place: the need to turn chaos into clarity, to make tools for surviving and thriving. They are offerings for anyone who, like me, is navigating a world that doesn’t always understand them.
Every purchase from By Her Fires supports not only this work, but also my monthly donations to the Blessing Box of Goldsboro, providing food and care items for neighbors in need. This is how I turn compassion into practice — tending both spirit and community. Check out my shop to help me continue my mission.
