The Sanctuary of Hekate Brimo is the child of sadness, disaster, and hope. My original Sanctuary was called The Sanctuary of Hekate Trivia and was established on May 18, 2015. In October 2016, Hurricane Matthew hit our area, and my entire property was covered with flood waters, polluted with human and animal wastes, chemical and fuel spills, and, of course, the aftermath of the flooded hog, turkey, and chicken farms that were not evacuated from the rising waters. I felt I had no choice but to close the Sanctuary in the wake of such devastation.

After living in a travel trailer for the past seven years, it's been very difficult to get settled on the location for the Sanctuary.  I have decided that instead of moving away from this place that holds so much sadness, it makes sense to remain here and do her work for those who are in need.

From the ashes, however, I felt it was time to refocus this energy and bring the goddess back to these lands after a global pandemic and the flames of war rising. I am establishing the Sanctuary of Hecate Brimo as an official sanctuary of the Covenant of Hekate. I recall my last dedication ritual. I held a bonfire, and the image to the right appeared while I was taking photos. I can clearly see the outline of the goddess holding a torch in the flames. This was a message of acceptance for the work I planned to do then, and now, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, she has called to me to revive my work in the light of her flames as Hecate Brimo.

To me, there is nothing more dangerous than a mother protecting her young. When I see Hecate Brimo, I see her as an angry mother. The mother sees her children suffering and is coming to save them.  I recognize Hecate as the mother of all life and even the source of our souls. When she sees our homeless left aside, she is angry. She is angry when she sees the animals we should be protecting left out in the cold. This anger turns to action when we call upon her to give her knowledge and wisdom to help us help others. In the work of the Sanctuary of Hecate Brimo, my goal will be to honor her by using my body, mind, and spirit to help those in need, protect those who cannot protect themselves, and lift those who have fallen.

The Sanctuary of Hecate Brimo IS NOT a magical or spiritual tradition. Instead, we are a community united by our passion for the Goddess Hecate, in her many forms, faces, and manifestations in the 21st century.

Sanctuary Commitment

Sanctuary of Hecate Brimo Logo

The Sanctuary of Hecate Brimo will be a virtual first sanctuary where I will support and guide those looking to walk with Hecate along the middle path. We will honor the five virtues and conduct our days in line with the goddess. We will focus our energy on helping those in need, protecting those who cannot protect themselves, and lifting those who have fallen.

The physical sanctuary will be located in Seven Springs, North Carolina, on a small 3.5-acre plot near the Neuse River. When possible, we will conduct rituals for the dark moon and solstices.

Our work for the community will support those less fortunate by supporting our local outreach groups. Blessing Box of Goldsboro and Furever Paws.

We will be a public sanctuary open to members and non-members of CoH.

Blessing Box of Goldsboro is a program that sets up boxes around the area that can be filled with food, clothing, or other items for those who need help. As part of the monthly deipnon, we will donate and work with others to collect donations for these boxes.

Furever Paws is a local animal rescue group that works with local businesses, vets, and citizens to help those animals in need. This group does everything from nursing orphaned kittens to helping those injured dogs get the medical attention they need. They also work in the community to trap and spay/neuter (TNR) feral cat colonies around the county. Our work will focus primarily on foster, transportation, and TNR services.

          My Torchbearer Commitment

As I began the journey to become a Torchbearer in the Covenant of Hecate, I was guided by a profound commitment to embody the transformative essence of Hecate. In my understanding, Hecate Brimo, the angry and fierce aspect of the goddess, serves as a catalyst for change, a force that can propel us toward positive transformation. The destruction of my sanctuary guided a refocus of my sanctuary and my Torchbearer's commitment to the Covenant of Hekate and Hecate herself.  Passing my dedication from Trivia to Brimo, I transfer this energy towards my new path and experiences through her eyes.

I see Hecate Brimo not merely as a symbol of wrath but as a fierce protector akin to a mother shielding her young. In this fierce protection lies an unparalleled strength and determination, an energy that can be harnessed for the greater good. I believe that the anger embodied by Hecate Brimo is a powerful force that, when focused, can be channeled into effecting real change in the world.

My Torchbearer commitment is to utilize Hecate Brimo's energy as a tool for advocacy, transformation, and empowerment. I aspire to be a vessel for change, to focus the goddess' formidable strength on creating pathways for those in need. By aligning myself with Hecate Brimo's energy, I aim to be a force that drives positive and meaningful shifts in the world around me.

A Torchbearer, in essence, is the carrier of Hecate's torches, providing light and guidance to those who may need a guiding light through the darkness of our current world. In this role, I pledge to be a beacon of Hecate Brimo's transformative energy, using it as a force for good, a source of empowerment, and a catalyst for the evolution of myself and the world I inhabit.

Hecate Brimo's wrath becomes a catalyst for justice, a tool for dismantling barriers, and a source of strength for those who require protection. My solemn commitment is to harness this energy responsibly and compassionately, recognizing that true power lies not just in anger but in using that anger to bring about healing, justice, and positive change.

As a Torchbearer, I pledge to be a guiding light, illuminating the paths of those in darkness and bringing forth the essence of Hecate as a guiding light in our collective journey towards a better, more just existence.

In the name of Hecate, I embrace this commitment with reverence, dedication, and an unwavering resolve to be a conduit for positive change.

                 My Keybearer Pledge

In the capacity of Scriba, or Scribe, for the Covenant of Hekate, I hereby undertake the responsibility of preserving the rich tapestry of our past, present, and future within the Covenant of Hekate (CoH). As the custodian of our collective stories, I am committed to documenting and sharing our members' experiences, insights, and spiritual journeys within the Circle of Keybearers.

My chosen symbol, the feathered quill and scroll, symbolizes the written word and the wisdom that unfolds through our shared narratives.

Specializing in the role of Scriba, I will focus on our stories, ensuring that the diverse voices within our community are heard.

Through online and print publications, I will provide a platform for members to share their personal growth, learnings, and experiences within the embrace of the Covenant of Hekate. Additionally, I will curate a dedicated space on our website where the words of Hekate's devotees and their original creations or submissions can be explored.

In pursuing our spiritual evolution, I will diligently record our triumphs and challenges, contributing to the exploration of the mystical realms associated with Hekate and her revered companions. Together, let us weave a narrative that reflects the vibrant tapestry of our collective journey.
